Musumeci Submits Carrasco in First Round at UFC BJJ 3

LAS VEGAS — Mikey Musumeci extended his undefeated run at UFC BJJ 3 by submitting Kevin Carrasco in the opening round Thursday night at the UFC Apex, capturing the bantamweight title via a “Mikey Lock” at 3:01.

In the co-main event, lightweight champion Carlos Henrique defended his belt against Matheus Gabriel, prevailing by unanimous decision after three rounds.

Musumeci entered the night riding a 13-fight win streak.  Carrasco, who had won his two prior matches, earned the title shot but could not avoid defeat.

The event marked UFC’s latest entry into its Brazilian jiu-jitsu–centric series, giving grapplers a platform under the UFC banner.
